Henry Davids' promotion to opening batsman has paid off with the Cobras man scoring 97 runs against the bizhub Highveld Lions.I think it's just bad luck that the Cobras have to compete without Herschelle Gibbs in the line-up. His exclusion from the test squad was probably seen as a blessing, as he would have been at the franchise getting game time. Instead his month of leave (to undergo an alcohol rehabilitation program) means Shukri Conrad had to find a new opening batsman and it seems Davids could be the man for the job.
Davids' 168 run partnership with Stiaan van Zyl helped the Cobras to a 48 run win over the Lions at Potchefstroom on Tuesday.
They set a total of 295 for 8 in 45 overs and the home side was all out for 247 in the 44th over.
