Davids steps up for the Cobras

Henry Davids' promotion to opening batsman has paid off with the Cobras man scoring 97 runs against the bizhub Highveld Lions.

I think it's just bad luck that the Cobras have to compete without Herschelle Gibbs in the line-up. His exclusion from the test squad was probably seen as a blessing, as he would have been at the franchise getting game time. Instead his month of leave (to undergo an alcohol rehabilitation program) means Shukri Conrad had to find a new opening batsman and it seems Davids could be the man for the job.
Davids' 168 run partnership with Stiaan van Zyl helped the Cobras to a 48 run win over the Lions at Potchefstroom on Tuesday.

They set a total of 295 for 8 in 45 overs and the home side was all out for 247 in the 44th over.
